I’ve Planted a Seed – A Poem

I’ve planted a seed

inside the dark soil

of my body.

As it grows

I’ll be able to feel

the roots digging deep

a whole world

sprouting within me.

I will know that I am ready

when I can feel the presence

of the leaves

pressing against the tips of my fingers

urgent to unfurl themselves

so that they can feel

the sun.
