It’s the Last Day to Vote for Minotaur in the Aurora Awards!

Time seems to move so quickly these days. It’s hard to believe that voting for the Prix Aurora Awards is today!

It’s been an honour to have my novel Minotaur nominated for Best YA Novel. I’ve never been nominated for a Prix Aurora Award, so this has been such a lovely and incredible experience for me. The fact that Minotaur has resonated with so many others is a true joy.

To think that my dystopian novel about people living and surviving in a labyrinth and being terrorized by the Minotaur within the walls of the maze is nominated for an award is just the most incredible thing. I don’t think Roanne would know what to say about it. I’m just overjoyed.

When I began writing Minotaur, I had no idea if I would finish the novel. I kept thinking who would want to read this? The truth was that I wanted to read it and I needed to find out what happened to Roanne and company. What began as one line became the longest book I’ve ever written. As Roanne led me on her journey, I learned a lot about myself, too. I learned that disability should never be hidden, the dark can hold many wonders if you look for it and that everyone is stronger than they know. Roanne taught me a lot about myself and I’m grateful for the lessons I have learned.

Minotaur took on a life of its own and I’m thrilled that the journey isn’t over yet. I’m writing the second novel currently title Theseus and it’s been fascinating to see what other journeys the labyrinth can hold.
