Whirlwind – A Poem

There is a

                                Whirlwind

inside of me. It often

Storms and

Rages

within.

When I’m unable to let it out,

I find that it erupts,

filling the air with white ash

when I open my mouth,

my words burned to nothing

when they touch the air.

Other times,

It is a torrent water of that

f

a

l

l

s

from my eyes.

They drop like small jewels

and I’m struck by their warmth

when the water runs so cold within.

And yet it is also a bright and beautiful

Light

that shines when I put pen to paper

or when I put brush to canvas

and let my spirit speak out loud.

In The ‘Cosm with Cait Gordon

I did a thing!

I sat down with speculative fiction author Cait Gordon for the very first episode of In the ‘Cosm! During the episode, Cait and I talk about everything from books, the pandemic, what I’ve been working on and what it’s like to live with Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Sclerosis.

I had so much fun talking with Cait about anything and everything. You can learn more about the podcast here:

It’s available on several different platforms: Anchor.fm, Spotify, Pocket Casts, Radio Public, and Google Podcasts.

Grab a cup of tea, tune in and have a listen! Thank you Cait for being such a lovely host!

The Ghost Mirror – Available Now!

The Ghost Mirror lives again!

When eTreasures Publishing closed its doors in 2019, The Ghost Mirror disappeared.

The Ghost Mirror was my first novel, and it was published in 2007 to really good reviews. It has always been one of my favourite stories. It was the first time I really tried writing a longer piece of fiction and the story has stayed with me for so long.

Earlier in 2020, I decided to publish it myself. I wanted to have my first novel out there in the world in some way. To me, The Ghost Mirror was a record of where my writing started and it was also an indication of how far I’ve come as a writer. It’s also an amazing story.

Here’s a bit about the novel:

After being neglected by her parents for thirteen years, going to live with her Grandmother is like a breath of fresh air. At her Grandmother’s, she is not shunned or ignored; instead she is loved for what she is. The Last Witch.

Following one of the Ghosts that inhabit her Grandmother’s house, Mave steps through The Ghost Mirror into a world that is hauntingly like her own. The Town of Elements has many surprises; foremost being the magic that surges through Mave. Another: that something dark is hunting for her.

Mr. Lavender, an eater of souls, knows what Mave is and wants her soul for his own. Mave must learn to use her Magic if she is to succeed. There is more than her life at stake however: If she fails, the entire fabric of Magic will unravel, destroying The Town of Elements and her own world.

Mave must fight with all the power she has, if she wants to stay alive. . .

You can get the eBook at Amazon here:

The paperback and Kobo eBook are coming soon as are other venues. I’m just so happy to have The Ghost Mirror out into the world again. Whether it’s your first time following Mave on her journey or it’s your second, welcome. Mave’s been waiting for you…

You: Magic, Light and Song – A Poem

  • For my Writing Sister Kimberlee on her Birthday.

You are made of Magic.

Wandering the world,

You bestow your gift upon the us

in the most amazing ways.

You can see into the spirit

of other people

and you can paint what is unseen,

spirit given shape and form.

You are made of Light.

As you wander the world,

You shine brightly

by just being You,

bestowing your light

upon everyone You

come into contact with.

You have no idea

how much your Light

makes the lives of others around you

better than they were before.

You are made of Song.

It cannot be heard,

but it is the song of your Spirit,

made by your Light and your Magic combined.

Your Song can be seen in the way

that others are calmed by your presence,

and how they are inspired by You.

The Song can be seen in your eyes

and within the brightness of your smile.

It sings every time you pick up your paint brush

to paint something beautiful

or when you pick up your pen and put it to paper.

You are made of Light, Magic and Song

and the world is brighter

because of you.
